Why do we use the at.jpg instead of the @ symbol?

People who send you spam use harvesting software to go through websites in order to collect email addresses. Use of this graphic fools this software into thinking we don't have any email addresses.

If you need to send someone an email, simply replace the jpg with the @ symbol.
