About Shipping
The
easy way to deal with shipping is to indicate "Best Way" and tell us
when you need the goods. We will contact you if shipping charges start
to become unreasonable. Call if you have a rush order. Please do not
depend on email for rush orders.
All our shipping fees
are based on cost. We do not make money on shipping fees. If fact, we
lose several thousand dollars each year in unresolved shipping costs to
us.
We Ship F.O.B. [a very common policy] which means that you
assume ownership of the goods the instant the carrier picks it up. Once
shipped the goods are your responsibility. This is why we buy insurance
for you. We are willing to help you resolve issues with the shipping
company should a problem arise, but you retain ownership and
responsibility for the goods.
We calculate shipping charges on a
box by box basis. We can't charge a flat rate and still be fair. For
example, if someone orders a DVD for $30 and someone else orders fifty
pounds of plaster for $30, it wouldn't be fair to charge them the same
shipping rate. Sometimes people call or write to find out what a
shipping charge will be. We can not offer any simple formula or flat
rate. In order to know a shipping rate we need to know three things; 1.
EVERYTHING you want. 2. How much it weighs and how many boxes it will
go into. 3. How fast you want it. This means we really don't know your
shipping charges until we have it packed and it is on the scale.
NOTE
TO PEOPLE WHO DON'T UNDERSTAND OUR LOGIC: Our products vary in
size and weight. We are not selling software that weighs only a few
ounces and is all the same. We don't have big contracts with the
shipping companies to deliver tens of thousands of the same thing.
You'll also notice that we are not overcharging you for shipping and
trying to make a profit on it (like eBay people.) Please don't compare
us to Amazon, TV offers, or other online retailers that cater to the
general public. We do not sell to the general public. Each order we
process is unique in many ways. Many of our orders are rush. That's
just the nature of the entertainment industry. If needed, Steve will
drive your order out to the airport to make sure it ships on time. All
of this extra care costs time. Time is money. This is why we have
minimuns. This is why we ship based on cost. Our product selection is
unique. Our customers are unique. Unfortunately this makes every
shipping situation unique as well. (Believe us, life would be a whole
lot better if our shipping charges were based on a percentage.)
Use our checkout system to get a shipping charge for an order.
We
also add a small handling fee ranging from $2 to $10 for handling and
documentation. This is in addition to the shipping charges. This covers the cost of paperwork for foreign orders,
boxes, peanuts, watertape, and driving it to the postoffice if needed
(a rush order.) Obviously if your order is simple and straight forward
the fee will only be $2.00. Obviously we loose a little money on
shipping materials which comes out of the gross cost of your goods. If
your order is confusing and disorganized my staff will lean towards a
higher handling fee. Sometimes, my staff will wave the handling fee for
people who are challenged, but shipping charges will still apply. Obviously people who come into the store do
not need to pay any handling or shipping fees.
If you agree to it, you may be required to pay a drop ship, or incoming shipping fee. This only occurs on big emergencies.
